French audience welcomed Iranian play in Saint-Étienne

French audience welcomes Iranian-French play ‘Beyond Words’ in Saint-Étienne city.

Joint theater production ‘Beyond Words’ by Iran and France has gained a huge audience response in French city of Saint-Étienne .

The play which has been on stage in France since March 19 was well-received by the French audience with two special shows scheduled for March 26 and 27 in conjunction with World Theatre Day.

The play co-directed by Iranian director Jafar Mahyari as well as France helmer Daisy Fel went on stage at the 35th Fajr International Theater Festival in January. The joint production has employed both French and Iranian cast and crew members.

Mahyari’s work is a movement-driven play with no dialogue. It was written by Iranian artist Jafar Mahyari and co-directed by Mahyari and French director Daisy Fel.

‘Beyond Words’ is scheduled to be staged in other French cities such as Paris and Lyons by the end of 2017.

Mahyari brought to the stage an Iran-Germany co-production titled ‘The Border’ last May in Tehran. In November 2015, he also held a number of international theater workshops in collaboration with German and French arts and culture centers in Tehran and Isfahan.

World Theatre Day (WTD) is celebrated on March 27.
